DFINITY envisions the internet computer as a public platform to implement computations based on an open protocol, principles of operation which will are similar to TCP. The key difference between an Internet computer and existing solutions is the ability to run software and services directly on the Internet. without the need use proprietary infrastructure or separate hosting.

DFINITY developers, meanwhile, continue to prepare for the launch of their main network without specifying specific dates.
